Project Overview

Alder Constructions - $500,000

The connection between Mooloolaba and Minyama is an important link in the Sunshine Coast Council’s Cycle Network Plan and is the first separated bikeway within an urban/business area on the Sunshine Coast. Stage 5 of construction provides the vital link between Bindaree Crescent and River Esplanade, completing the Coastal Pathway and separating pedestrians/cyclists from the busy Brisbane Road.

Bampak WPIP awarded the construction of the Mayes Canal Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge. The 66m long bridge features decorative panel elements, coloured bridge decks, exposed pattern approaches as well as “glow in the dark” footpaths and will be an entry statement into the Mooloolaba area. Construction is on target to be completed on schedule despite some unique challenges, such as building suspended headstocks over a channel open to vessels and watercraft.

Despite the unique challenges of working above a large body of water, the project was completed on schedule.
